Delayed in Atlanta… again…

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

I broke down and paid the $8 for Wi-Fi access so I could check my email.

On a brighter note I got a call earlier, shortly after getting off the plane, from the Susan at the Lodge at Lakeline Village and they have an apartment for us after all. I am excited and it takes a huge weight off my shoulders. We now have a place to live. I actually got a call from the moving company this morning also, which was quite timely since I was going to call him when I got back to NY.

Nicole and I are going to get up early tomorrow morning and drive to Boston for the weekend. I will take a lot of pictures and post them when I get a chance.

Still no sign of the plane, but I am going to pack up and hit the restroom.

On to Plan B…

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

We do have a plan B don’t we? Today Ben and I stopped by to check in at the apartment complex Nicole and I were hoping to move into. I met with Susan the lady that I have been working with at the complex. Although she was very chipper she didn’t seem to have much in the way of availability. Of course I think people have a few more days to let her know if they aren’t renewing. She is suppose to be giving me a call on Saturday.

In the mean time I called an apartment locater service. It never hurts to have a professional on your side. They can spend all day looking for places and all I have to do is go visit the ones we find promising. I have no fear we will find something Austin is full of apartment complexes. It’s just a matter of finding something nice, affordable, and not in the ghetto.

Microblogging…

Monday, July 30th, 2007

I am going to assume since you’ve made your way to my blog that you in fact know what a blog is. If not… well then look around because this is pretty much a typical blog. A slightly newer phenomenon is Micro-blogging. So if blogging involves writing paragraphs then micro-blogging is more along the lines of words or sentences.  There are several micro-blogging sites out: Twitter, Jaiku, and Pownce.

I am now using Jaiku… you can check out my latest Jaiku entry in the sidebar. It also links to all my posts on the Jaiku site.

The Draught House…

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

Ben and I are at the Draught House. We are going to work on the Weasel site and drink a few beers. I am drinking a Live Oak Hefe Weizen it’s very tasty. The free Wi-Fi is provided by Less Networks. We can’t seem to find any outlets so I think when the batteries run low we are going to head over to Mozart’s which is a coffee shop that also has free wireless access.

Paddyrock.com…

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

I am a huge fan of Celtic Rock. It’s a pretty small genre of music and I am always looking for new bands to listen to. Yesterday I found this site paddyrock.com it’s basically a celtic rock internet radio station. So far I think I have a list of about 20 new bands I want to check out.

Back in Texas…

Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

So I have been in Austin for about 2 hours. Ben picked me up at the airport, we grabbed some lunch and now I am at the office.

The flights were decent. I really can’t complain. They were both very full so boarding and getting off the plane was a bit slow. Also on the flight from Long Island to Atlanta I had a window seat… which sucks when you have wide shoulders like me, but that’s my fault for picking a window seat. I am not sure if it was an error on my part or if it was the best option available when I booked the flight.

Anyway time to see if I can actually accomplish something today!

“Alien” at the Alamo…

Saturday, June 9th, 2007

Ben and I went to the Alamo Drafthouse tonight to see the midnight showing of the original “Alien”. I am pretty sure the print they showed was the original. Yikes!

Never the less it was a good time!

Movie: Knocked Up…

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

Gina, Ben, and I went to see Knocked Up last night at the Alamo. I can honestly say I laughed till it hurt. That’s how funny this movie is. Admittedly it’s not “family” entertainment, but if you enjoyed The 40 Year Old Virgin I can almost guarantee you’ll love this flick. It’s pretty much the same cast just shuffling the deck a bit.

I am a bit interested in checking out Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared both of which involve many of the same folks.

Back in Austin…

Monday, June 4th, 2007

Sorry, I haven’t had the opportunity to sit down and write a post in a few days. I am back in Austin for the week. I flew in yesterday morning. It is very hot here. It was at least 98 degrees yesterday.

After Ben picked me up from the airport we went to downtown Austin to play some video games. It was great, but walking from place to place was horrible due to the heat.

Anyway I just wanted to post a quick update. I write more tomorrow.
