The Neverending Story at the Alamo…

The Neverending StoryOn Saturday Nicole and I went to the Alamo Drafthouse to see The Neverending Story. One of the coolest things about the Drafthouse is that from time to time they play older movies. Granted you can watch these classics at home on DVD, but there is something to be said for seeing them on the big screen.

I knew I had seen The Neverending Story before, but the plot of the movie had long since slipped my mind. The only think I could remember was the theme song and that there was a flying Dog-Dragon thing. By the way that flying Dog-Dragon thing is called a Luck Dragon in case you were wondering.

The matinĂ©e show time was obviously set up for parents to bring their kids, but we were hoping the place wouldn’t be swamped with ankle biters. We were the first ones there. I ordered lunch and Nicole got some candy. We also ordered a bowl of popcorn to be brought out when the movie started. We were surprised to see mostly people our age showing up with out any kids. The closer to the start time a few couples our age showed up with their kids and I am happy to report all ankle biters were well behaved.

We had a great time and Nicole says they are going to be showing ‘Superman’ sometime soon so I think we are going to go see that. My request for an oldie but a goody…”Stand by Me”…mainly because it’s a great movie, but also because I clearly remember seeing it in the movie theater when I was a kid.
