Caffeine withdrawl (part 2)…

Monday, August 13th, 2007

Well I feel a bit better today. I did have one 20 oz Diet Pepsi with lunch. It helped take the edge off a bit. I’ve drank about 64 oz of water today. I am a little on edge, but so far no headaches. I got about 8 hours of sleep last night, but at lunch I did doze off for 10-15 mins while watching TV.

Caffeine withdrawal…

Sunday, August 12th, 2007

Caffeine is a blessing and a curse. If you need a little pick me up it’s there for you, but in my case I am soda drinker. I would normally drink a 2 liter or more a day of diet soda. So I’ve decided to break the habit, but I couldn’t just go cold turkey. I am in way too deep for that. I decided to limit myself to a 20 ounce soda a day, but I can tell you right now I feel like crap.  I have a headache and a feel very nauseated. I have also felt very tired I took a nap this after so I feel pretty decent right now.

Wish me luck! This is the first step to a better me… more about that later.

Big ‘ol Monitor…

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

So after some hands on time with the N800 I’ve pretty much decided it’s not for me. So it’s destined for a date with the auction block. As a replacement “gadget” I purchased what I refer to as the “big ass monitor”. It’s an Acer 22″ widescreen LCD Monitor.

Big Ass Monitor

I purchased the monitor from Newegg.com. They are my favorite place for computer equipment online. I can’t recommend NewEgg enough. The monitor arrived with one stuck pixel near the center of the screen. I was bummed, but I got online and found a few methods for correcting the issue. Now I think I have it fixed.

I have only had the monitor for a few days, but so far it’s great. I am looking forward to hooking my Xbox 360 up to it and playing some games in HD.

The Boston Trip…

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

Our trip to Boston was good… however between NY and Boston lies the fine state of Connecticut, which I nominate for the worst drivers in the world award. Sorry Connecticut people, but I got a real bad taste for your state this weekend. It all started on Saturday when they had a 3 lane overpass cut down to just one lane for construction. Now I know in the North East there are two season Winter and Road Construction, but come on three lanes down to one on Saturday morning.

Anyway we got up early (5am) on Saturday and drove to Boston it took around 5 hours. We couldn’t check in till 3pm so we parked and had them hold our bags. We walked around the market area and then wandered down around the water. It was very hot. We ate lunch and eventually went back to the hotel to check in. We got cooled off and then I had the great idea to take the subway down to Chinatown and Boston Commons. So that’s what we did. I don’t think we ever made it to Chinatown proper, but on the outskirts in the Theatre District it was very “ghetto”. Boston Common had a lot of homeless people sleeping in it. I guess I am just used to NYC where there are cops everywhere.

We spent a little time in Boston Common at the Frog Pond and we stopped at the Robert Gould Shaw Memorial (the person Mathew Broderick played in the movie “Glory”) then we took the subway back to Government Center, which was the closest station to our hotel. For dinner we walked through the market, bought any food that looked good, and took it all back to our room. After dinner we decided to do some gift shopping in the market area. Then we waited around for a “laser” show, but shortly after it started we realized it was pretty lame and went back to the room to get some sleep. We both took, much needed, hot baths.

Sunday we got room service for breakfast and took a “trolly” bus tour. It was very cool, literally and figuratively. The temperature dropped 10-15 degrees. After the tour we grabbed a quick lunch and then it was time to hit the road.

We got back to Long Island a little after 7pm. We had a great time but it was wonderful to be home again.

Delayed in Atlanta… again…

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

I broke down and paid the $8 for Wi-Fi access so I could check my email.

On a brighter note I got a call earlier, shortly after getting off the plane, from the Susan at the Lodge at Lakeline Village and they have an apartment for us after all. I am excited and it takes a huge weight off my shoulders. We now have a place to live. I actually got a call from the moving company this morning also, which was quite timely since I was going to call him when I got back to NY.

Nicole and I are going to get up early tomorrow morning and drive to Boston for the weekend. I will take a lot of pictures and post them when I get a chance.

Still no sign of the plane, but I am going to pack up and hit the restroom.

On to Plan B…

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

We do have a plan B don’t we? Today Ben and I stopped by to check in at the apartment complex Nicole and I were hoping to move into. I met with Susan the lady that I have been working with at the complex. Although she was very chipper she didn’t seem to have much in the way of availability. Of course I think people have a few more days to let her know if they aren’t renewing. She is suppose to be giving me a call on Saturday.

In the mean time I called an apartment locater service. It never hurts to have a professional on your side. They can spend all day looking for places and all I have to do is go visit the ones we find promising. I have no fear we will find something Austin is full of apartment complexes. It’s just a matter of finding something nice, affordable, and not in the ghetto.
